Allen Openshaw

Senior Consultant

Alan Openshaw has over 25 years of direct involvement in training and leading Lean and Six Sigma transformations around the globe, including extensive work in Europe, Asia and South America deploying the tools and methodology of quality improvement. Beginning in 1989 Mr. Openshaw taught TQM while working in the defense/commercial aircraft/satellite industry. His extensive career has touched most industries, from heath care, finance and manufacturing. Alan has led both Operational, Transactional and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) implementations and provided consulting services at Sequa Corporation, AlliedSignal, Viasystems, Emerson, Winsor, Chevron, Agrium, Experian, and Intermountain Healthcare, as well as scores of other companies. With Alan’s leadership these companies have achieved millions of dollars in documented savings to date.

Mr. Openshaw considers himself fortunate to have worked at Autoliv in 1996 when Toyota, their supplier came in and taught them the fundamental principles of Lean and Toyota Production System (TPS).  Alan also led the Operational Excellence Department at Atlantic Research Corporation where he received training to become one of the first DFSS Black Belt in the country under the tutelage of Clyde (Skip) Creveling, who authored the very first textbook on the subject of designing for Six Sigma quality. Alan later became a corporate trainer for Sequa, Inc., teaching both DFSS and Operational Six Sigma to engineer staff and others at their various holding companies throughout the U.S and abroad.

Alan, is a certified Master Black Belt, as well as certified Lean practitioner through the University of Tennessee, ASQ and the Delphi Automotive Group.
