  • I had Professor Padfield for several classes during my graduate studies at Purdue University. Prof. Padfield always went above and beyond to make each class period impactful and memorable. An example of how Prof. Padfield went above and beyond is when he taught our class remotely from Sweden having to wake up in the middle of the night. Prof. Padfield was an approachable and helpful professor who was always willing to lend a helping hand or provide feedback.

  • Jon was one of my instructors in grad school at Purdue. Jon was able to present difficult material effectively to a group of professionals from a variety of industries in a manner that made clear, immediate impact in each of their specialties. The class presentations were conveyed with the correct mix humor that allowed everyone to gain perspective on the given subject. The mentoring that Jon provided on a class and individual level was concrete and specific. The direction that Jon provided in class, with suggested reading, and personal correspondence has provided me with a new level of motivation and determination in my own career.

  • Thank you for what you've done for us! You taught us a lot of things. I really enjoyed taking the Green Belt course with you, your were awesome teacher. It's not the typical lecture where you just listen and take notes. It's interactive and not boring. You kept our attention with a good attitude, presentations, and the 20 minutes breaks really helped to refresh. The atmosphere is very casual which lowers my anxiety about the course. I would recommend all my friends to take this course with you. I believe I'm doing them a favor because they wouldn't find better instructor!

  • Jon is a strong asset to Purdue University. He is one of the best professor’s that I encountered during my educational journey in both grad and undergrad studies. What makes him one of the best professor’s is his presentation and knowledge of the material. The uses of past work experiences to make points in his lectures to help students better understand the topics. His passion for students to learn also stands out. He tutored the whole class on two different Saturdays to refresh our Statistics. This is why I think Jon is an asset to Purdue University.

  • It was a great time and I learned the difference between a manager and a leader, and how to develop my team. Finally thank you Professor.

  • Jon Padfield was one of the most interesting and knowledgeable instructors that I had during my graduate studies at Purdue University. He used his experience and meshed it with textbook data to create a body of knowledge that allowed students to learn the difficult topic of strategic management in a concise and clear manner. Jon used the methodology of using assignments to build a body of knowledge, and then directed the students to apply them to their own work experiences demonstrated in class projects. This was very effective. His knowledge of business and technology allowed him to converse with the students at a high level, and he was able to use these discussions to build the course knowledge base. I would highly recommend Jon Padfield as an instructor for any organization who wants to optimize the ROI from educating their employees or students.

Lean Six Sigma

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Simply put, it is a skill set that consists of a comprehensive set of tools and a specific way of using them to reduce waste, improve productivity, reduce errors, and increase profit. In other words, it is a highly valued set of skills that many employers look for when hiring new employees or considering existing employees for promotion.

"Lean" is all about reducing waste and creating "flow". Six Sigma is all about reducing variation which in turn reduces defects. These complimentary methodologies form a powerful tool set for optimizing manufacturing and business processes across any organization.

Dr. Jon Padfield teaches these skills in a unique way that incorporate first-hand experience, best practices from multiple industries and rigorous academic research to create an engaging, effective and memorable learning experience.

Error Prevention

Everyone knows a chain is only as strong as its weakest link – so what is the most common, weakest link in many of today's critical business, clinical and industrial processes?

As electro-mechanical equipment and automated systems have become more reliable over the past few decades, more and more organizations are finding human error to be an increasingly frequent contributor to both defects and accidents.

This workshop addresses the most common causes of human error and demonstrates how the best practices from high reliability industries (such aviation and nuclear power) can be adapted to other industries to minimize the opportunity for error.
